A Unique Baby Shower Footprint Invitation

Impress Your Guests with Genuinely Personalized Baby Footprint Shower Invitation Cards

With this baby shower footprint invitation creativity suggestion, we’re pretty certain you’ll be enjoying the fun of doing it yourself.  And what is more, you can include the essential, precious and latest elements for success  -  your new baby with those teensy little toes adorning those adorably tiny feet.  Isn’t that what the celebration is actually all about!  So let's consider these different options you have:

One option requires considerably more of your baby’s co-operation, whilst the second is a breeze!  The first is to get sufficient cards ready to create a unique invitation for everyone  –  that will mean organizing a little production line for making 20 to 50 (or however many you need for every guest) prints of baby’s foot.  You will need the space to lay out the cards while they dry.  It’s a great project as every single guest gets a genuinely unique and personalized invitation card.

With the easier option, you create a few baby footprint images and photocopy or scan them for printing out as many as you like.  Whichever method you decide on the process should go along like this:

  • First check in your kitchen for some food coloring.  Traditionally children crafts use pink for girls and blue for boys, but other colors like green, vanilla or lavender will also do.  Alternatively you can buy a non toxic baby safe ink pad.  Next:
  • See if you have a color applier  –  a sponge may do or you could buy a little ink roller, which is easy to find in any children’s store (or online).  If you’ve got yourself an actual ink pad, it may be large enough to place the baby foot in without needing a color applier. Now:
  • You need to decide when to borrow your baby’s foot while awake or asleep.  Asleep could be much easier, but little baby doesn’t see each footprint hot off the printing press, if you see what I mean. Anyway, next:
  • You need to decide on where to do.  This may also be tied to if baby will be asleep or awake.  Wherever you decide, we would recommend a high-chair or a baby buggy  –  something with constraining straps.  So then let the fun begin:
  • With the color added to all the toes and foot, gently impress the foot against some appropriate paper and so you have your beautiful baby ink footprint image ready to use.  A further few suggestions may help:
  • Make sure you have the right type of paper:  not to shiny and not too absorptive; otherwise the imprint won’t form or else it will blotch.

Now if you have a camera to hand that has several advantages:

  • You can take a picture of the baby footprint and the colored feet as a second possibility or a backup.  It serves as a second string to your bow in the unlikely event of baby putting his or her foot down (in the wrong place!) and just refusing to play ball half way through the operation.  Also:
  • You can use a photo as a follow up image for thank you cards and the like. And anyway, it’ll be great:
  • To capture the fun of the occasion and to augment the shower invitation card design which may well be destined to become a prized baby keepsake as most baby footprint images and objects often do.

Of course you should be prepared with the normal baby wipes and tissues.  Alternatively you may decide this is the perfect time for a baby footprint shower for baby and head to the bathroom as the occasion requires.  But essentially the main hurdle is over and you can proceed with writing, photocopying and/or scanning your resulting footprints to create the desired baby shower invitations.  Success is about to be yours!

There are other options that you can also choose and here are a couple more that are well covered on other pages:

A very straight forward one is to buy a baby footprint stamp with appropriate colored ink pads and use standard invitation cards which can be stamped with pink for girl or blue for baby footprint images.

Whether you've gone through this first suggestion above or not, if you take or already have a pic of baby's footprint, or hand print for that matter, you can scan the photo into your computer and create a little baby footprint graphic. Then it is very easy to find shower invitation designs online.  You can very easily add your very own baby's footprint graphic to the downloaded template and there you have it  -  your fully personalised absolutely unique baby footprint shower invitation.  Here are some examples from an HP site:
